Day Kimball Hospital's Gordon Harrower Memorial Intensive Care Unit (ICU) offers all modern critical care treatment modalities for those facing life-threatening illnesses or injuries.
And, Day Kimball Healthcare's critical patients are watched even more closely thanks to an innovative clinical partnership with Yale New Haven Health’s (YNHH) InSight Tele-ICU service.
Treatment for those needing the most critical care includes Insight tele-montoring, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, cardiac pacemakers, thrombolytic therapy, pulse oximetry, anti-arrhythmic and vasoactive medications, as well as interdisciplinary management of complex disease processes or surgical procedures.
Day Kimball Hospital's ICU has been specially designed to provide care for critically-ill and cardiac-monitored patients. The ICU is a combined 17-bed unit, consisting of six single ICU beds and 11 semi-private telemetry beds supported by an advanced central monitoring stations and a special procedure room.
The ICU's critical care and monitoring equipment, including cardiac monitors, oximetry, hemodynamic monitors and ventilators, are state-of-the-art and offer the same level of technology found at major medical centers.
An interdisciplinary team approach is key to the quality services provided. Our team consists of highly skilled physicians, intensivist doctors and nurses, critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, dietitians, social workers, chaplains, case managers and other professionals, as needed.
Day Kimball Healthcare's critical patients are watched even more closely during overnight hours using an innovative Tele-ICU system to provide remote computer, audio and video monitoring of every ICU patient – adding an important layer of safety that also translates into better outcomes.
This is thanks to an innovative clinical partnership with Yale New Haven Health’s (YNHH) InSight Tele-ICU service.
The service allows intensivist doctors and nurses at YNHH to provide remote electronic and video monitoring of patients, as well as consultation support to physicians and nurses, at Day Kimball Hospital’s ICU from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily.
Our current ICU visiting hours can be found here. However, visiting hours may be extended or reduced at the discretion of the nurse depending on the patient’s condition. Visitors are asked to remember that any changes in visitation are made solely for the well-being of the patient.
Dr. John Modica is Day Kimball Hospital’s ICU medical director.
